How Do I Know if Therapy is Right for Me?

If you’re wondering whether therapy might help, you’re not alone. Many of us struggle with stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, or patterns like perfectionism and people-pleasing—and it can be hard to know when to reach out for support.

Here are some signs therapy could be a good fit:

  • You’re living for the weekend. Maybe you feel stressed all week, looking forward to Friday, only to get the “Sunday scaries” before Monday hits. Your mind might be spinning with worries about work, relationships, parenting, or finances. To cope, you might binge-watch shows, shop impulsively, overdo it at the gym, or emotionally eat.

  • Your relationships feel complicated. Things might be great sometimes, but other moments leave you feeling misunderstood, belittled, or confused. Patterns like self-doubt, perfectionism, or people-pleasing may be showing up, making communication and connection harder than it should be.

  • You feel disconnected from yourself. You might be going through life on autopilot, distracted or reacting to stress instead of feeling present. Temporary coping strategies can only do so much.

Therapy can help

  • For burnout: True self-care isn’t just bubble baths or scrolling online. It’s connecting with what really lights you up—your values, hobbies, and interests. If you’re creative, maybe that’s painting, drawing, or exploring digital art. Even taking your creative activities outside can spark inspiration and joy.

  • For anxiety or stress: Therapy helps you dig into the root of what’s driving your worries and reactive behaviors. Understanding the “why” behind habits like emotional eating or overworking can help you develop healthier ways to cope.

  • For relationship challenges: Therapy can help you understand your attachment style, recognize the patterns that show up (like people-pleasing or self-doubt), and build stronger communication and boundaries.

Ask yourself: Is my cup full, half-full, or empty? Does it drain quickly, leaving me struggling to refill it? Do I want to live a more present, fulfilling life?

If your answer is “yes” to any of these, therapy could be the step that helps you feel more grounded, connected, and in control of your life.
